Non-dance Capezios
I cannot find ANY Capezio street wear shoes from the '60's on eBay or elsewhere. It's hard to believe that these great flats from the '60's aren't out there on some website.

Hi, my father bought this picture (it's mounted on hard cardboard) in the 60s or 70s. Does anyone know who she is?

Not really sure how to attach the image so here are a few attempts: https://i.servimg.com/u/f31/17/81/78/06/img_7311.jpg

OR if that one doesn't work, try this one:

Portrait of Girl - FOUND!
Well I am very happy to say that I have finally discovered in what issue of Seventeen magazine that the 'portrait of the girl' I've been searching for is in. It was a long time ago so my mind did play a few tricks on me, namely that I was so sure it was in a Seventeen from 1970 or 1971.

It actually turns out to be in a Seventeen from 1973. It's the May issue from that year and it has Deborah Raffin on the cover. The name of the feature that accompanies the portrait is listed on the cover of the Seventeen: A Romantic Story by the author of Jonathan Livingston Seagull. The...

I was so excited to come across this site today!

I am a collector of magazines from the 60's and 70's and I love the advertising, photography, and of course, the great models (that I wish I looked like!) :-)

Anyway, I'm so glad to be able to explore here. What a great resource!

I have 100's of magazines to go through myself and my blogs aren't as extensive as this site is, but I'm trying.

I have a blog dedicated to reto advertising: http://hideelee1966.blogspot.com/

Samantha Jones Cosmopolitan Make-Up Feature
I am happy to report that I have found out in what issue of Cosmopolitan magazine that the make-up feature with Samantha Jones appears in.

It's in the August 1973 Cosmopolitan (with Naomi Sims on the cover). I just bought it from a Seller online and I am looking forward to receiving it. It's a four-page feature with two beautiful 'after' photos of Samantha Jones and very detailed photos of her make-up application. It sure makes for a great makeover story and is a classic example of just what make-up can do for a woman, when it's applied right - it's rather fascinating to see her transformation...

Samantha Jones Before and After Pics
Hi everyone - I have a question regarding a make-up feature that the model Samantha Jones was in for Cosmopolitan magazine. It was called "A Model Face" and in this feature it showed Samantha Jones without make-up and then it had a step-by-step description with accompanying photos of her putting on her make-up. I believe in the after photo it showed her wearing a metallic shirt.

I am wondering in which issue of Cosmopolitan - the year and the month - that this feature would appear in? I think it was either from the late 1970's or the early 1980's but I am unsure.

Thanks a...

Two new albums have been created in both Bonnie's 50s and Bonnie's 60s gallery: Modess.

The ads also include Serena (a product made briefly by Modess during the late fifties), Vee-Form, Teenage Modess and Meds, the Modess tampon.

The Modess ads start with the late 1940's.

please help me locate portrait of girl
I have been trying for some time to find what Seventeen magazine has a picture of a girl that I remember seeing from my youth. I'm quite certain that it would be in a Seventeen from the year 1970 or 1971.
It's not an Ad, but is rather a feature which would most likely be more in the middle of the magazine. I don't think it's an actual photograph, but rather a 'portrait' or photographic portrait of this girl, who looks like she would be in her teens or early twenties. It's quite a large and close-up picture of the girl, probably on the left-hand side of the magazine, with a story or a write-up...

I am writing to say how fabulous the website and the forum are. I know how difficult it can be to build a webste and how terribly expensive. You got to find sponsors. It in inconceivable to me that a group of former international models who have such a wealth of information and interesting pictures with stories to go with them, would not attract some kind of a sponsor. There is nothing like this on the web. You all need to get some publicity so that this website can go really big. Believe me, I know that is expensive. I hope, now that we are no longer a part of MSN, but a privately owned...

Seventeen Magazine Feature
I have narrowed down the Seventeen magazines that the feature I was describing yesterday (with the picture of the girl) may be in. Through the advice of Linda Morand I contacted Susan, the former senior editor, and through the process of elimination there are four issues left that this particular feature may be in. They are as follows:

January 1970
September 1970
February 1971
April 1971

If there is anyone who could help me regarding this particular feature - which is described on the post just previous to this one - I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you...

yardley photo ad - south africa 1970's ish
Hi,
can any one help find photos of my dads modelling career? His names is Bill Wright and he did some modelling in the early 70's in South Africa.
Its most likely I could find a picture of his Yardley advert in (in S.A.) which he posed in a dinner suit in the early morning with a female model in a field of daisys (plastic ones he helped plant).
If its any help he also posed for a photo story magazine/comic as a Dr in S.A.
If anyone could help find any photos of this or anything in his modelling career I would be very grateful.
Thanks

Thank you Linda...so much easier to navigate. And faster too! I really appreciate this website...most of the people I work with are 35 and younger and no one remembers when models were really models. I work in beauty advertising and we've been trying to cast an "older" model (which means 25 years old) for a new anti-aging skincare TV spot. The girls - although quite lovely and charming - all look exactly alike. (And most had suspiciously full lips, lol.) That's what I love so much about models from the 60s and 70s...each one looked so different and so beautiful in their own right....

I love the pictures of Susan VW from 1959. So surprising to see her without her famous "Flip". Wonderful article about the launch of the very first Ingenue Magazine. Imagine dinner with "Kookie" Edd Byrnes. It must have been such a thrilling time for her.

And did you know that Noxeama Skin cream is still available in some Drugstores. I got some a couple of weeks ago and the smell is just so wonderful and it still cleans like crazy.

Hello,

I would appreciate help in finding out the month and year of the Harpers Bazaar issues which contained the Black and White high fashion photos of Susan Van Wyck by Avedon and Sokolosky. The photos were posted on the prior msn site, but I don't remember who posted them. I do remember that the Avedon photo said 1963 and the Sokolosky photo said 1965. Thanks much.

Linda,

I have about 30 vintage Seventeen Magazines from 1959 thru 1968. I have taken out the pictures of Susan van Wyck for my scrapbook. However, there are many pics of the other great models of that time. Some of the magazines had no pictures of Susan so I did not remove any pages from them. They are in great shape.

I purchased them on ebay, and am now finished with them. if you or your organization can use them please let me know.

I will happily send them via priority mail to whatever address your indicate.

I still have to locate about 24 Seventeens...

Interview of Linda Morand by Emerald Alexander

How did miniMadMOD60s get started?

About three years ago, I was toying with the idea of making a video about
facial exercise and putting it on an infomercial. I was working on a business
plan and was advised to mention that I had been a top model for awhile in
the Sixties. After receiving my proposal, the investor did a Google search on
me. Nothing came up but two walk-ons I had in a few movies, mostly just for
fun because I knew the directors. He actually said that for a top...

What happened to the font sizes at the main site? The letters are so large now that the model's full name will not fit in the viewing area (on the list at the left).

Also the size of the text within the albums has reversed. Now the thumbnail "summary" is twice the size of the title and the title is the size that the summary used to be. It makes it look like the summary text is actually the title of the photo. The same goes for the description text when viewing the actual photo. The title is puny and the description large.

I noticed that in the list of names on the left in the "60s Models Headsheet", the names run alphabetically from Agneta Darin at the top to Willy van Rooy and then, after Willy's name, the list starts over again with a new set of names in alphabetical order starting with Andrea Dromm and continuing down to Zuleika (and there are a few names not alphabetized below Zuleika). I was just wondering why that is.

How many of us made New Year's resolutions to exercise and eat healthier foods? Now that the first week of 2009 is over, I thought we could use a little inspiration from the beautiful and svelte Dolores Hawkins. This photo is from the 1966 Glamour's Beauty Book, but it doesn't say when it was originally taken.

Do you remember, Dolores? You look great!
