Rita Egan (1935-2009) was born in Brooklyn, New York, and attended St. Johns University. After college, Rita became one of the top models at the Ford Modeling Agency in New York City. During the 1950s and 1960s, Rita was frequently featured on the covers and within the pages of the top fashion magazines such as Seventeen and Mademoiselle. Rita married Donald MacInnis in 1956, with whom she had two sons and two daughters. After her husband’s sudden passing, Rita began a nearly 20-year career in advertising at IBM where she rose through the ranks of management. An avid tennis player, Rita met her second husband John Vollenweider on the tennis courts. They were married in 1984. After retirement, Rita enjoyed tennis, golf, gardening and volunteering with her favorite charities. Her happiest times were spent teaching her 5 grandchildren how to read, swim or bike.Rita was such a popular model that she was often featured by name in magazine articles and ads.
