This is Maren Gustafson. Cover photographed by David McCabe.
From Jan '66 Mademoiselle: "The girl on the cover is ex-MLLE staffer Maren Gustafson. Until last November, Maren played Girl Friday to one of our fashion editors—who took a look at her when she first walked in and started ordering milk shakes. (If she could fatten her up, maybe she could keep her.) But fashion photographers, one after the other, kept telling Maren she ought to be in pictures (we used her first in March '65), and now she is. The cameras are clicking like mad. Maren learned about makeup at MLLE, found a face is what you make of it (the Cinderella story is no fairy tale). Here, to put roses in her olive skin, she used Moisture Make-Up foundation and face powder in a shade called Gentle Blush—color coordinated by Clairol to go with her dark, nut-brown hair. Her lipstick, like a dollop of peach ice, is Clairol's Flicker of Peach. And putting the flip in Maren's do is master of the scissors Louis-Guy D'."
