PostMother/Daughter Maybelline Models 1944 & 1971

I have a few more ads that I'd like to share from the first issue of Seventeen magazine, September 1944. This Maybelline ad is actually the back cover. Isn't it exquisite? The right hand that is cupping the flame actually appears translucent!

The beautiful model is Elyse Knox, and the photographer was her first husband Paul Hess. Elyse later married Tom Harmon, with whom she had three children: Kristin was married to Ricky Nelson, and actor Mark is currently starring in the TV series NCIS and is married to former model and actress Pam Dawber. Middle child Kelly was also a model, and many of her Maybelline ads can be found in the Ad Campaigns Album: Maybelline.

More 1944 ads tomorrow!
