In the mid-1960s, Simplicity Patterns had a very successful ad campaign called If I can sew, you can sew. The ads were run in magazines for women and teens and showed a celebrity sewing her own clothes.

Some of the actresses in this ad campaign were Joan Fontaine, Carol Lawrence, Julie Newmar and Michelle Lee. A few popular models were also featured:
