Butterick Patterns launched their
Young Designers series in
1963 to appeal to the Baby Boomer generation. The successful series lasted almost two decades and included designers such as
Mary Quant,
Jean Muir,
Mia Fonssagrives (daughter of model Lisa),
Prue Acton,
Willi Smith and
Kenzo.
Betsey Johnson was a designer for
Alley Cat in
1971 when she began creating patterns for
Butterick. Her designs were prominently featured in the
January 1972 Seventeen magazine as a
4-page ad and an
8-page editorial layout. I created a
